Lotus Elise Club Racer Details

Lotus just announced it will be unveiling its special edition Elise Club Racer this September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The special edition will feature four exclusive colors, custom interiors, and new lightweight components. Lotus has been marketing its sports cars with the concept of world class handling and performance without the gas guzzling consequences of its competitors.

Based on the 134 horsepower Lotus Elise S, the Club Racer will pay tribute to Lotus cars of the 1960s by bringing back the four classic color schemes: Elite Yellow, Carbon Grey, Sky Blue, and Old English White. Exterior colors are carried over to the interior with color matching transmission tunnel and combined with silver and black highlights.

The interior will include Elise seats with custom lightweight microfiber seat covers, designed to be supportive but also to offer better grip for the passengers under cornering loads. Other interior features will include an anthracite anodized gear knob and handbrake sleeve and Club Racer logos on the seat headrests. Both driver and passenger floors will lined with aluminum flooring, and the small diameter leather steering wheel will feature an on-center marker to enable the driver to quickly identify the straight-ahead steering position.

Lightweight anthracite anodized wheels are standard and complement the interior accents, and are wrapped in sticky Yokohama AD07 LTS tires.

The Club Racer is set to go on sale this month in Europe at a price of about 34,000 Euros. As you can guess from the Euro based price quote, there are no set plans to bring the CR to the U.S. Unlike the Club Racer, the Lotus Evora is coming to the U.S.
