Honda today unveiled two official Crosstour simulated images. The upcoming crossover is undoubtedly a direct competitor to Toyota’s new and similarly styled Venza CUV, although Honda has adopted a rounded back end a la Porsche Panamera. The Crosstour will slot in Honda’s lineup between the CR-V and the Pilot SUV. Unfortunately for Honda, the Crosstour has been greeted with largely negative feedback on its Facebook launch site.
While the Crosstour has some similarities to the upcoming Acura ZDX crossover, it does not share the same platform. Instead, the Crosstour will be built on a modified Honda Accord chassis and will be built in the USA at the East Liberty facility in Ohio. As far as styling goes, the front and back ends seem a little large compared to the rest of the car, and we're unsure as to whether this is caused by the graphical rendering or if it will look like this in its final version.
There were no official announcements about engine options, but unless a new powerplant is built (unlikely), expect the standard 2.4 liter four cylinder and 3.5 liter V6 that are currently offered with the Accord. An all-wheel drive system will also be offered, similar to the Ridgeline’s VTM-4 system. The Crosstour is set to begin production this month and go on sale later this fall. We’ll update you with more information when the official media kit becomes available from Honda next month.
