To commemorate a victory for three years in succession in the Transsyberian rally – an off-road race across the vast expanse of Siberia – Porsche has released the Cayenne S Transyyberia, a special model adopting numerous features from the vehicle which competed in the Transyyberia Rally 2008. The production version features a higher-performance engine and a modified intake system for increased power and greater efficiency. Also, the roof-mount headlights and rugged paint job come standard. Equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), the vehicle continuously regulates the damper force according to surface conditions and driving style. The 405 horsepower V8 will accelerate to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds. Starting at $70,800, the Transyyberia version will cost you $10,800 more than the Cayenne S.
If the added upgrades of the Cayenne S Transyyberia aren’t enough, you could always try to get your hands on the Porsche Racing version of the Cayenne Transyyberia. With luxury to spare, the rear seats have been tossed out for a full-on roll cage, and the glove box removed in favor of a Tripmaster computer which provides real-time information regarding every detail of the planned route. For wet conditions, a snorkel was installed along with waterproofing up to the windowsills.
Standard equipment includes:
• two fire extinguishers
• two sand ladders
• two full-size spare wheels
• two transport boxes for tools
• two two-man tents
• two heat-insulated ground sheets
• four lashing belts
• a nine-meter long salvage belt complete with tackle, a folding spade, a folding saw, an axe,
a manually operated and adjustable headlamp, four towing bar openings and a Hazet toolkit.
