Supra enthusiasts can still hold out hope for a Supra replacement in the coming years. Last year, many thought the project was canceled due to the economic downturn, but 7Tune.com has recently released speculation that the project has been continuing on under the press' radar. According to the fan site, Toyota has been secretly working on the project, building off the FT-HS Hybrid Sports Concept released in 2007.
Power for the Supra is speculated to be provided by the same hybrid 3.5L V6 as the Lexus 450h. The front mounted engine drives the rear wheels and is expected to produce upwards of 400hp with ample torque generated from the combination of the gas engine and the electric motor's low end grunt. For those not interested in a "green" sports car, Toyota is rumored to be working on a non-hybrid version of the car. Although there are few details currently available on pricing, some have estimated the price range to be between $30,000 and $40,000 (USD).
