2010 will mark the return of the storied Grand Sport version of the Corvette, replacing the Corvette's previous Z51 package. The Grand Sport will cominbe the Corvette's LS3-based powertrain with unique, wide body styling and race track ready suspension. The 6.2L engine produces 430 horsepower and 424 lb-ft of torque with the standard exhaust system. An optional two-mode exhaust system increases power ratings to 436 horesepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. The Grand Sport features wider wheels and tires thanks to widened front and rear fenders, revised shock and stabalizer bars and springs specs, and unique gearing. All these upgrades allow the Grand Sport to achieve 1.0g in the corners. The Grand Sport will be as a convertible or removable hard top. Unlike the Z06, this model will be available with both the six speed manual and six speed automatic with paddle shifters. Track fiends should go with the six speed, as it comes epuipped with a dry-sump oil pan allowing for a lower engine placement resulting in a lower center of gravity.
